Seattle Grace Hospital
Addison had left the trailer, a heavy feeling hovering over her. She knew the moment she and Derek shared in the trailer wouldn't be their last happy moment together. There were going to be lots of moments in which they would go out and find their love for one another again. The only problem was they would have to make time to work things out, to talk about the past, about Mark and Meredith, about why they fell apart.

It wasn't fair. Why couldn't they just know and move on? Why did they have to bring out the pain and everything that's happened? Addison knew it was something they needed to do. She knew very well without talking about those things, their marriage would fall apart again. She just wished they could fast forward through all of that and just be happy, just be Addison and Derek.

Of course, life never worked that way and they would have to battle it out, hoping and keeping faith that they would come out of it alive and stronger than ever.

She'd gotten Finn's first text message on her way to the hospital but decided against texting him back until she got to the hospital; however, by then he'd already withdrawn his first request and told her to take a rain check. Noting that she really needed to talk to him, Addison made a mental note to contact him later. The night before had been complicated and she was sure she'd led him on. Now things were different and she was going to work things out with Derek so she needed to tell him. He was a good friend and she was sure that she would need his shoulder to lean on when things got tough with Derek so she needed to be absolutely honest with him.

Her day had gone on with very little difficulty. Everything was the same as always. Patients, babies, mothers; just the same thing she dealt with on a day to day basis. Her mind however drifted to Derek quite often. They always had, but this had gotten to a point where she almost couldn't keep her mind off of it. Her mind was on Derek when she walked down the halls. It was on Derek when she wrote notes in a chart. The only time she could tear her mind away from Derek was when she was actually in surgery. She was a surgeon and her patients deserved the best. She would not let her personal life jeopardize a patient's life.

Now Addison was staring blankly down at a chart at the nurses' station, pen in hand but unmoving. All she could think about was Derek, wondering when she'd be able to see him again, when they could have a moment like they'd had that morning. She missed the sheer bliss and playfulness they'd always shared in the beginning of their relationship. The morning let her get a glimpse of that again and all she wanted was for every moment to be just like that; Addison and Derek, the way they were supposed to be. It was just a dream, but it was dream she was going to hold on to.

Derek breathed deeply as Addison ended their kiss. He knew if he teased just enough she would take control. She always did. She had always liked it when he was in control, but there were times when Addison would take charge and let Derek be the passive one. It was never really a battle (altough they sometimes pushed each other to that point... especially when they were angry), just an unspoken decision.

He ran his hand softly along her side, pulling her closer to him so almost every inch of their skin was touching. "Of course I'm good at it. I've been practicing for a dozen years," He brought his lips closer to hers for a quick kiss.

Addison tangled her legs with his and wrapped her arm around him again, pressing herself against the length of his body. She snuggled into the pillow and just lay there staring into his eyes. They were always something she'd admired and could spend hours staring into. Now that they were filled with so much love and affection, she never wanted to stop. She wanted to see this sparkle in his eyes forever because the feeling of being loved she got from it was absolutely divine. She never wanted to give that up.

"Well, the practice has certainly paid off and I'm definitely not complaining," she said, smirking as she leaned in for another kiss but ended up turning away and covering her mouth with her hand as another yan escaped her lips.

Derek chuckled at her yawn and dropped his forehead to hers when she turned back to him, "Did I wear you out?"

He loved laying here in her arms, laughing and rediscovering their love. He loved making love to her for hours on end. He loved kissing her. He loved getting lost in her beautiful eyes and finding love and devotion there. He loved being married to her. But maybe, most of all, he loved sleeping with her.

When she was in his arms and they drifted to sleep together everything seemed perfect. He felt safe. He felt content. Everything was okay if, at the end of the day, he had Addie in his arms.

"Mmmm," she murmured softly, letting her eyelids droop a little. "You did, but I think we can agree that it was a very good way." Smirking, she nuzzled her nose against his and allowed her eyes to shut completely.

Addison focused on the warmth coming off of his body as she lay there, skin upon skin. She could feel their warm breath mixing together and the rise and fall of his chest underneath her hand.

There had been so many nights in the past in which they'd spend it just like this. They didn't need to be doing something like watch a movie to make things perfect. Being in each other's arms was enough. She remembered in New York when this was what she'd strived for. Derek wouldn't be around as often and sometimes he'd opted to sleep in on-call rooms, but the few times he slept at home, they were spent like this, and she'd convinced herself then that this was enough. And it was.

"I love you, Addie," He whispered, his eyes drooping mostly closed as well.

His mind began to go over the day's events. Their marriage had been just days from ending when they had gotten from bed that morning, and now they were working on it. They were going to make it. They were going to be Derek and Addison again. He'd reclaimed her body. She was his now, forever.

At the thought of this, a huge grin formed on his face, and he opened his eyes to look at her as if checking to see if she was really there.

Feeling his eyes on her, Addison opened her eyes slightly and grinned over at him. She leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his lips one last time. "I love you, Derek, forever." Settling beside him and getting comfortable, Addison slowly let her eyes flutter close again as sleep and exhaustion gradually overtook her body.

Addison and Derek had overcome a big obstacle and were in a blissful state, but there were many more challenges to come. Some would come much sooner and some they would face in the future. All that mattered was that they battle them together and fight for their love and their marriage.

Derek smiled, pulling her closer as he let his eyes drift closed. They would move on from here and be happy. They would be Derek and Addison. Life would be the closest thing to perfect it could ever be.

Her slow and rhythmic breathing that came as she drifted into sleep seemed to lull Derek into comfort. He hadn't been sleeping well. He really never slept well without her in his arms. His final thought as sleep overtook was that he was going to finally get some rest.
