Seattle Grace Hospital
Addison had left the trailer, a heavy feeling hovering over her. She knew the moment she and Derek shared in the trailer wouldn't be their last happy moment together. There were going to be lots of moments in which they would go out and find their love for one another again. The only problem was they would have to make time to work things out, to talk about the past, about Mark and Meredith, about why they fell apart.

It wasn't fair. Why couldn't they just know and move on? Why did they have to bring out the pain and everything that's happened? Addison knew it was something they needed to do. She knew very well without talking about those things, their marriage would fall apart again. She just wished they could fast forward through all of that and just be happy, just be Addison and Derek.

Of course, life never worked that way and they would have to battle it out, hoping and keeping faith that they would come out of it alive and stronger than ever.

She'd gotten Finn's first text message on her way to the hospital but decided against texting him back until she got to the hospital; however, by then he'd already withdrawn his first request and told her to take a rain check. Noting that she really needed to talk to him, Addison made a mental note to contact him later. The night before had been complicated and she was sure she'd led him on. Now things were different and she was going to work things out with Derek so she needed to tell him. He was a good friend and she was sure that she would need his shoulder to lean on when things got tough with Derek so she needed to be absolutely honest with him.

Her day had gone on with very little difficulty. Everything was the same as always. Patients, babies, mothers; just the same thing she dealt with on a day to day basis. Her mind however drifted to Derek quite often. They always had, but this had gotten to a point where she almost couldn't keep her mind off of it. Her mind was on Derek when she walked down the halls. It was on Derek when she wrote notes in a chart. The only time she could tear her mind away from Derek was when she was actually in surgery. She was a surgeon and her patients deserved the best. She would not let her personal life jeopardize a patient's life.

Now Addison was staring blankly down at a chart at the nurses' station, pen in hand but unmoving. All she could think about was Derek, wondering when she'd be able to see him again, when they could have a moment like they'd had that morning. She missed the sheer bliss and playfulness they'd always shared in the beginning of their relationship. The morning let her get a glimpse of that again and all she wanted was for every moment to be just like that; Addison and Derek, the way they were supposed to be. It was just a dream, but it was dream she was going to hold on to.

Derek was completely focused on Addison as she orgasmed. The way her eyes drifted closed and the way his name came from her lips. He listened to her moans and couldn't resist capturing her mouth in a kiss as her muscles convulsed around him.

It wasn't long after Addison reached her peak that Derek reached his. Waves of pleasure coursed through his body as he became fully reconnected to her. He was hers now and nothing could change that.

His eyes drifted closed, and he called out her name, riding out his climax with long forceful thrusts.

Addison kissed him sloppily as he came inside her, her arms going up to wrap around his neck. Hugging him tightly, she moved her face so their cheeks were pressed against one another. Her breathing started to slow and become less shallow as she eased out of her state of euphoria, her fingers gripped his back, not wanting to let him go.

She didn't want this moment to end. It was too grand to be over so soon. Not only that, it was like their earlier moments of bliss. After it was over, they would have to face more pain. It was going to be easier now that they'd gotten back to being Addison and Derek, but it was still going to hurt. There was still a lot for the two of them to work out, a lot to discuss. Many confrontations with their past would be brought up. Many tears will be shed, but they were going to get through it in the end.

Holding him tighter, Addison unwrapped her legs from around his waist. She stared up at the ceiling through half-lidded eyes and placed a kiss on the side of his face. "I love you, Derek," she whispered against his cheek, their bodies pressed up against each other. They were one again.

Derek dropped forward, still on top of her as they both came down from their bliss. He smiled slightly at her arms wrapped so tightly around him, refusing to let go; he loved the feeling of her holding him.

He loved that she wasn't loosening her arms' hold on him as they lay their, breathing slowing to a normal pace. He didn't want this moment to end. They were truly reconnected; Addison was truly his. He was hers. Their marriage had come a full circle, back to the connection and love they had felt during their honeymoon and newlywed stage (although Derek had no illusions about how much work he would still have to do to rediscover some of his love... he'd been a pretty poor husband of late).

For the first time since finding her in bed with Mark in New York, Derek could honestly say he could put Addison's adultery behind them. He would still remember it, sure, and it would probably always be a sore spot in their relationship. It didn't just go away because he had found a way to forgive her and love her again, but it didn't matter as much. He didn't want to hurt her because of it anymore. He just wanted to love her.

And he knew that Meredith was behind him. She had been a breath of fresh air, an escape from a cheating wife, but that was really all she had been. Everything else Derek had told Addison had been a fabrication. He had been trying to find a replacement Addison, and Meredith was no Addison. Addison was his love.

There were still things they had to discuss. There would still be pain, but they were together now. They could overcome their struggles. If they could be here, right now, they could overcome anything. Derek and Addison would ultimately prevail. There wasn't another option.

He smiled as she kept her arms around him and released his waist. She didn't want to let go, either. This moment was meant to last forever.

"I love you too, Addie," He whispered back, pushing himself up slightly and brushing his lips across hers, "Thank you."

Addison shook her head and smiled up at him, looking straight into the sea of blue that was his eyes again. "No, thank you," she said, pushing herself off the bed to bring her lips to his again for a quick kiss. Reluctantly, she loosened her arms from around his shoulders and allowed him to roll off of her and immediately snuggling up beside him.

There was a lot for her to be thankful for. She was truly happy that they'd found each other again. This moment, this state that they were in was everything she'd wished for since Derek had started to be indifferent towards her in New York. She was completely thankful for Derek's forgiveness. It seemed like this moment allowed him to forgive her for Mark and Finn. They were apart of their past now and this was the beginning of their future.

It wouldn't be long before they had to face the pain again. Everything had gone rather well tonight. The silence had been excruciating. Letting her secret out had been a major release but her fears had haunted her. Tonight, they had overcome that, and they would get passed whatever pain would come along, just not tonight.

She didn't want to talk about the past or face the pain. This had been enough. They deserved to just lay back and bask in their love for one another. Their love-making had come to an end, but the perfection of the night could go on.

Derek smiled at her as they lay next to each other, Addison pressed as close to him as possible. Nothing else really mattered. It didn't matter that they still had a lot of pain to face. It didn't matter that things weren't completely fixed. All that mattered was that they were here, in this moment.

He reached out softly, taking her wrist in his hand and bringing her hand to his lips. With a small smile, he pressed soft kisses to the tips of each of her fingers. It might have been a bit corny, and he wasn't sure if Addison would see the affection in it. But right now all Derek wanted to be doing was pressing kisses to Addison and just being with his wife.

"I love you, Add," He whispered, and he knew he'd just said it moments before. He didn't want her to forget that he did love her. He didn't want to ever stop saying it. He had a lot of time to make up for.

Her smile grew brighter as she watched him kiss the tips of her fingers. As corny as it was, the gesture made her heart flutter slightly as she grinned and pressed her body against his, basking in the feeling of his skin upon hers. In this moment, their love for each other and how they showed it was most important.

Addison swung a leg over one of his and glanced back and forth from and and his hand holding her fingers. She pressed a kiss to his bare shoulder and smiled against his skin. "I love you too," she whispered back.

As redundant as it was, Addison felt like she could say those three words over and over again, and she wouldn't mind if Derek did either, especially when they were like this. That expression of love had been lost in recent months since she came to Seattle. She'd been too afraid to say it, fearing that he wouldn't say it back. The few times she had said it, her fears came true or Derek said it, but she could tell he hadn't really meant it then.

It was different now. She could see, hear, and feel his love for her. It was such a huge step up from where they'd been before, it was hard to believe it was actually happening and Addison had to keep reminding herself that this wasn't a dream. It couldn't be. She'd waited for this for too long. She wasn't going to let it go, dream or not.
dr_shep on January 2nd, 2007 09:48 am (UTC)
Derek's smile grew even bigger as she repeated the sentiment. He'd heard those words from her mouth thousands of times, but they seemed different now. It was like he suddenly understood the value of Addison telling him that she loved him. It wasn't something he could take for granted. He had to earn those three words, and he had to make sure that she always heard them.

If only for Derek's sheer determination not to allow it, they wouldn't slip back into their old ways. They wouldn't forget their love. There would be no more growing apart. It was going to stick this time because Derek knew the stakes were even higher this time. He barely deserved a second chance, now, but he knew he wouldn't be getting one if he screwed up this time.

His eyes trailed from her face down her body. They were as close as two people could be, and their proximity was intimate. He dropped her wrist, running his hand from her shoulder to her bottom and patting it playfully.

"I love you, Addie," He leaned slightly and pressed a kiss to her forehead, intent on getting his point across, "I'm never going to stop saying it."

Addison enjoyed his gentle touch and the feeling of his hands running down the length of her body, resting on her bottom. This, his touch, was another thing she'd come to miss. Since everything with Mark, they'd had sex, some of it pretty amazing, but his touch had been different. Thanksgiving had been different. None of it was like this.

If love were something tangible, she would be able to feel it spreading across her body underneath his touch, because this was what it was. It wasn't that he was touching her, it was the way he looked at her as he did it, the way his skin seemed to glide against hers. The love was there to back it up. It wasn't something that was meaningless.

She smiled up at him and let her hand rest on his chest, moving it across his skin softly. She began tracing small random patterns onto his chest before catching his gaze. "Don't ever stop saying it," she said softly, "Because I feel the same way."

Derek smiled, using his weight to push her on her back and rolled on top of her. He hovered his lips above hers, feeling their breaths mingling in the small space between their mouths. With a soft touch, he brushed her hair behind her ear before finally lowering his lips to hers, his tongue briefly touching hers.

He didn't know if appologizing would ruin this moment. He felt the need to tell her just how sorry he was for forgetting his love. He needed to appologize because he hadn't even told his wife that he loved her (and meant it) in months. Even in New York those three words became more of a duty than an actual representation of feelings, and he should have never allowed that to happen. He should never have let himself drift away the way he had.

He pulled his lips away from hers, seeking her earlobe with his teeth and sucking slightly before whispering, "I'm never going to forget again. I'm never going to stop loving you." He dropped his lips to the spot below her ear and flicked it softly with his tongue, smiling slightly.
xaddis0nx on January 2nd, 2007 07:15 pm (UTC)
Addison wrapped her arms around him tighter, tears slipping from the corners of her eyes. That was all she had ever wanted to hear from Derek. She'd just wanted to know that he would never stop loving her. She had just wanted to know that he still cared. Now, all of that was becoming a reality.

A lot of people would have questioned her decision to try and work it out again. They'd wonder why she was giving him a second chance after all that he'd put her through. Honestly, Addison had her fears too. A part of her was scared that Derek might one day revert back to his absent and indifferent ways, but somewhere inside of her, she knew (or maybe hoped) that this time was going to be different, this time Derek was going to really try.

Everyone deserves a second chance. When Addison came to Seattle, that was what she had wanted; a second chance to make things right and to fight for their marriage. Derek hadn't really given her that chance since he'd didn't really try to save them. But he was trying now and Addison had to believe that this second chance that she was giving him would be the last chance because they were really going to work it out this time.

She moaned softly at the feeling of his tongue against the spot just below her ear and the friction between their naked bodies. Her hand went up to caress the back of his head and massage his scalp. "I never have and I never will stop loving you," she whispered back softly, holding him closer.
dr_shep on January 2nd, 2007 08:07 pm (UTC)
Derek smiled as Addison made her promise. It was a promise they never should have had to make. If things had gone right, their marriage and their love should never have been a question. He hadn't really done anything right through their life together. He'd forgotten her, he'd let her do all the work to keep them together and he'd been a bad husband. He wouldn't do that again because he really loved her and knew the stakes if he didn't do it right.

He stayed there, his lips near her ear and her arms wrapped around him for several minutes. Addison holding him felt so right, and he loved her fingers against his scalp. They hadn't laid together like this for years. It was as if each inch of his body that was touching Addison's was radiating his love to her.

"I love you," He nipped at her earlobe again and pulled away slightly so he could see her face. Again, he hovered his lips above hers dropping them just enough for a light kiss, "I've missed you. I've missed this."
xaddis0nx on January 2nd, 2007 09:10 pm (UTC)
Addison let her hands go down to his shoulder and she rubbed his skin softly, her gaze on the area in between their bodies and slowly moving upward to his face and finally landing on his eyes. She smiled softly and pressed a kiss to his lips.

Missing this was something that Addison had done for a long time. She'd longed for these moments for quite some time. She'd missed the way his body felt pressed up against her. She'd missed the feeling of his lips upon her skin. She'd missed having his arms wrapped around her as she did the same to him.

"Me too," she said softly, letting the palm of her hand brush against his cheek. She didn't know how to truly express how much she'd missed having him look at her like this or love her like this, so she settled on bringing their lips together again in a passionate kiss.

Derek's lips parted as soon as Addison's found his. He immediately started a duel between their tongues, inciting a friendly battle for control. Slowly, he trailed one of his hands up to the side of her face, tangling it in her hair and cupping the back of her head.

They had used to share kisses like this all the time. They had used to spend time exploring the contours of each other's mouths, kissing languidly until they were both left breathless. It had been far too long since they had shared them, and Derek was intent on continuing this one for as long as possible.
xaddis0nx on January 2nd, 2007 10:36 pm (UTC)
Addison kissed Derek with as much passion as she could muster, her tongue roaming the inside of his mouth and massaging his tongue. Her hand ran down his chest and let it wander along his body, exploring his sides and the muscles of his back. She dragged her fingernails along his skin, knowing he had always liked that.

Running out of breath, she pulled back a little get some air but nipped at his lower lip, dragging her teeth along the soft tissue. She bit down gently and snaked her tongue out to soothe it, running along his lip.
dr_shep on January 2nd, 2007 11:01 pm (UTC)
Derek shivered as Addison's fingernails ran against his skin, leaving goosebumps in their wake. He felt his arousal increase at the sensations her fingernails were giving him, and he took the hand that wasn't in her hair and trailed it along the side of her body.

His breathing was slightly labored when Addison finally pulled away, and their breaths mingled as Addison's teeth and tongue teased at the sensitive tissue of his bottom lip. After a moment, he pulled away from her lips completely and began a trail of kisses starting at her jaw and making their way down her neck as his hand continued exploring the side of her body.
